A TIME OF REFLECTION

At a time like this we all mourn, for those who lost their lives to the Dana Air plane crash. June 3rd, 2012 will be yet another memorable but sad day in the lives of Nigerians, to those directly OR indirectly affected. What can we say to this tragic incident... who do we blame? Let’s not forget those that were in their homes, peacefully or not, going about their duties. They were also victims of this ghastly accident, that could have been avoided if caution had be taken. Reports gathered by citizen journalists via their blackberry’s were that, the airline was advised not to fly.  If this is true, in a country like the USA, the company may will have their ass sued, which will eventually lead to their collapse. So why then did they fly? The answers to these questions are not necessary, because the deed has been done. All lives were lost and no amount of what ifs... will bring them back.

Nonetheless, we need to face reality and start to make a lot of measures in order to avoid such disastrous events like this. In the first place, the airline should be held responsible, if truly they had warning not to fly. A lot of investigation should be carried out as to identify the real reason behind the crash. We should mourn and yet still face the issue at hand. The government should not let this carelessness slide or else many more air crash will happen in the nearest future. The aviation sector needs to checkmate their regulations and investigation must start from all angles of the sector. Other issues that are of importance to this sector must also be looked into. In the end, we expect a report that will be true, factual and candid; that will be shown to all Nigerians. All in all we sympathize with all who lost a family or a friend to this sad occurrence.

May their gentle soul go back to their creator.
